Ross Simpson

I joined Brigg Primary School as a newly qualified teacher in September 2014. I have since taught in year 4 before recently moving into year 6. My responsibilities within school include the implementation of class dojo as a reward system. I joined the governing body at Brigg Primary School as a staff governor in 2016. I feel that my role as a staff governor allows me to represent the views and interests of my colleagues as well as to offer valuable insight into the day to day impact of governance in our school.

Before training to become a primary school teacher, I spent a year working in further education, teaching functional skills Maths and English at Vision West Notts College in Mansfield. I firmly believe that all talent should be nurtured and encouraged, enabling children to achieve their full potential and develop into well rounded, happy individuals.

I was appointed as a Parent Governor in February 2018. My two children attend Brigg Primary and having volunteered to help at a number of school events it was suggested that I apply for the position. I have always found the school to be a very safe, welcoming place with caring staff and enthusiastic, motivated children, and I jumped at the chance to increase my involvement in this way.

I am a Training Co-ordinator for an airline; prior to this I was Cabin Crew for many years. It was my childhood ambition, and I think it important that children are given the opportunity and support to strive to achieve their goals and ambitions, and to fulfil their potential as they grow.

As a family we enjoy long walks with our dog, and I am a keen member of a local running club, which I thoroughly enjoy

I joined the staff of Brigg Primary School in September 2013 as Deputy Headteacher, at the same time joining the governing body as a staff governor. Prior to this I worked at Yarborough Academy in Grimsby as Assistant Headteacher, serving on the school’s governing body for 11 years. Being a staff governor allows me to play an essential role in ensuring the staff and governors of the school work closely together to provide the best possible education for every child at Brigg Primary School.

My responsibilities within school include assessment and data as well as Curriculum leader and work closely with the Curriculum, Finance and Policy committees.

I have lived in North Lincolnshire since 2001 when my husband and I moved from West Yorkshire and feel that it is home. My two children attend the local school and I regularly attend PTA meetings at their school, supporting and participating in many fundraising activities.
