Welcome to the Foundation Unit - Nursery and Reception

Our Foundation Stage children can spend up to two years and two terms within our Foundation Unit, depending on when they begin their time at Brigg Primary School. The majority of our children access at least some of their 15-hour flexible provision with us and can start in our Nursery, the term after they turn 3. Some children access the flexible provision at other settings and join us in the Reception year. (Foundation 2). For more information on how to enrol your child in our Foundation Unit, please contact the school office, either in person or by telephone on 01652 652155.

Learning and Development

All of our children are treated as unique individuals and a smooth transition where they settle quickly and happily, is a priority of all staff. The curriculum is child-centred and based upon the interests of our children. Children are expected to take part in a variety of free choice and adult-directed tasks, appropriate to their level of development. We focus on providing activities which promote progression in all areas of development (named below) in line with the national Early Years Foundation Stage.

We run a 2 year programme of themes for the Foundation Stage, which can be downloaded from the link below.

We know that learning does not just take place in school, but lots of learning also happens at home too. We would love to hear your contributions too so please complete a 'Wow' moments box if you have anything to tell us. This can be collected from a member of staff or downloaded at the bottom of this page.
