I was recently appointed as a community governor at Brigg Primary School in March 2014 and I am also a member of the finance committee.

I am a qualified accountant and a Partner at a local firm, RNS Chartered Accountants, based at our Brigg office. I think it is important for local businesses and the community to play a part in local schools.

I have an interest in all areas of the school and believe that all children should be given support and have every opportunity to discover and learn to enable them to reach their full potential, whatever their ability.

In my spare time I enjoy running, reading and travelling with my husband.

I first became a governor in late 2010, joining as a parent governor, although now I am a ‘co-opted’ governor due to structural changes to the governing body.  My drivers in wanting to be a governor remain the same.  I believe that the best way to support my children and their friends through life includes supporting their schooling, not only through regular attendance and helping with their homework but by offering to help the school management.

I am married to a teacher who works at the school two days a week providing targeted intervention support and as year 1 class teacher.

If my capabilities and experience as a chemical engineer and managing director of my own engineering consultancy firm are helpful then I am glad to support the school by helping the governing body in directing the school to achieve it’s aims.  I enjoy the time I am able to come into school and the different opportunities that being a member of the governing body affords.  I would recommend being a governor to anyone.

I spend most of my spare time running around after my children and wife although I do enjoy a number of sports, gardening, reading and listening to the radio.
